Washington University School of Medicine is ranked third nationally by U.S. News and World Report, and received more than $368 million last year in NIH research funds. Basic genetics is a strength; the Human Genome Center played a key role in the successful sequencing of the human genome, and strong clinical research programs in genetics are being developed. Barnes-Jewish is regularly ranked among the top 10 hospitals in the country by U.S. News and World Report, most recently sixth.
